Report on offsite construction

Published by the Health and Safety Executive, the report identifies some of the major benefits of offsite production of buildings using modern methods of construction (MMC). Titled Offsite Production in the UK Construction Industry- A Brief Overview, the report was prepared by Stephen Taylor of the HSE’s Construction Engineering Specialist Team and published in 2009.
The paper discusses the historical and current application of MMC using off-site production techniques and gives an overview of the various types of off-site construction. It includes specific case studies illustrating current practice and identifies the primary benefits to health and safety on construction sites through its implementation.
